JOIN A PLANT-BASED COUNCILS COMMUNITY NEAR YOU!

Groups of volunteers across the country are working to achieve 100% plant-based transitions in their local councils. Alongside this, they are campaigning for their council to promote plant-based eating to local residents, and remove meat and dairy advertising wherever the council has influence.

We are supporting groups to use a broad range of strategies to engage their local council in discussion on the contribution of food to the climate and nature emergencies. This includes petitions, demonstrations, engaging with local press, and hosting fun community events. Whilst we are engaging in local democracy, the discussion will inevitably spill out from the council chamber and into the wider community, getting people talking about the need for a plant-based food system and rewilding.

Volunteers will be trained to become skilled community organisers and leaders who can connect groups of local people and create a new wave of resilient campaigners. They will gain skills and practice that can later be used to transform other institutions too.
